2021 Model Displayed

The Porsche 718 is a true performer that will never leave you wanting more. Thanks to its boxer engines and its low center of gravity, the 718 handles beautifully on the roads of Los Angeles and Arcadia—and it can even be optioned with a manual transmission for those who desire a more engaging drive. Plus, this relatively lightweight model enjoys pretty impressive fuel economy when you’re traveling on the open road! For this year, the Porsche 718 mpg ratings top out at 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway—and we’ve laid out everything you need to know about the current lineup.

Which Porsche 718 Engine is Right for You?

  • 718 Boxster / 718 Cayman: The base-level 718 models come standard with a 2.0L turbocharged boxer-4 engine. It delivers 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, and it can be paired with a manual transmission or an automatic. Here, and elsewhere across the lineup, choosing the automatic transmission will maximize your Porsche 718 gas mileage. These standard features and options carry over to the 718 Boxster T and 718 Cayman T.
  • 718 Boxster S / 718 Cayman S: Upgrading to one of the S trim levels will net you a 2.5L turbocharged boxer-4 engine. With this larger power plant, horsepower increases to 350 and torque increases to 309 lb-ft.
  • 718 Boxster GTS / 718 Cayman GTS: The even more powerful GTS configurations come equipped with a 4.0L naturally aspirated boxer-6. With 394 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque, you can reach a top speed of 182 mph and accelerate from 0 to 60 in just 4.3 seconds.
  • 718 Spider / 718 Cayman GT4: These configurations also include a 4.0L naturally aspirated boxer-6, but this setup has been tuned to output 414 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque.
  • 718 Cayman GT4 RS: Drivers who are searching for genuine thrills should choose the GT4 RS, which offers 494 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque with its own 4.0L boxer-6. That’s enough power to take you from 0 to 60 in just 3.2 seconds, or take you to a top speed of 197 mph.

Which Porsche 718 is Most Efficient?

If you want to maximize your fuel economy on the roads of Pasadena and Glendale, then it’s wise to choose a model with the entry-level 2.0L boxer-4. However, since there isn’t an enormous difference between the most impressive Porsche 718 mpg ratings and those that you’ll encounter at the top of the lineup, you shouldn’t necessarily feel dissuaded from exploring your options.
