Numerous improvements promise an even better driver’s car than the previous generation model, which won awards for its responsive handling.
The standard Cayman’s 2.0 liter flat-six delivers 300 horsepower, twenty five more than the previous model, and delivers improved fuel economy in both city and highway estimates. 28 miles per gallon highway is now possible on the new Cayman.
In the Cayman S, the 2.5-liter engine delivers ten more horsepower, now rated at 350 hp, and also improves fuel economy to reach up to an estimated 28 miles per gallon on the highway.
Two transmissions are available on both models. A six-speed manual is standard to help you connect with your Porsche, while the legendary seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) is an available option. The PDK transmission benefits from cutting edge technology to help you get the most performance and fuel efficiency out of your vehicle. These changes mean your Cayman takes 4.9 seconds from zero to 60 mph, while the Cayman S can sprint to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.
The new Porsche Cayman receives the same lightweight body with a longer wheelbase and wider track as the new Boxster. The changes translate to increased interior room and improved handling performance. A new electro-mechanical steering system and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical, rear-differential lock is available, a Sport Chrono Package is an optional extra to further improve your Cayman’s responsive handling and engine performance.
